Damage
Currently, it may be one of the main forest pests that, due to changes in the socio-economic structure of the farms and the successive droughts, followed by very humid years, has caused the death of thousands of cork oaks in some regions of Ribatejo and Alentejo. Its attacks have raised concerns among agents in the cork industry, given the large economic losses and the seriousness of the threat to the sustainability of the cork oak forest.
