Description
Xyleborus is a coleopteran, belonging to the scolytidae family. It acts especially on weakened plants. Particularly intense attacks are observed in chestnut trees aged between 4 and 12 years. The female lays approximately 50 eggs.

One annual generation.
Damage
Destruction of xylemic vessels with consequent interruption of the sap circulation that will lead to a weakening of the plant. This weakening is particularly visible at the end of flowering. As a consequence of the attack, strong sap exudations can be observed on the tree trunk.
