Description
Ips Acuminatus is a small coleopteran, from 2.2 to 4mm in length, that severely damages pine forests in Europe and parts of Asia, with special emphasis on wild pine.
Number of annual generations
Normally 2 generations per year.
Damage
Damage occurs inside the trunks and branches. Initially, damage is caused by adults that bore laying galleries, and subsequently, the larvae damage the tree them when they feed on the phloem tissue. They may kill the pine.
